Guy Kawasaki

Today we have the pleasure and honour to chat with Guy Kawasaki about digital data memory future, women and Apple.

3 Questions to Guy Kawasaki

Todas: About future: All of us we agree on fact that in general we are conscious that the digital archives (or digitized archives) that we generated can be deteriorated, but we do not worry about its conservation. Do you think we chose the suitable methods to conserve our digital memory? Does the companies worry about the future of the digital data? what´s your experience on these themes?

Guy Kawasaki: Compared to what: rotting paper and vellum? The big leap is from analog to digital. Once you have the information in a digital format, you’re 90% there.

You may have picked the wrong digital format, but the worst digital format is better than the best analog one.

Todas: About Women: What should you tell to new women start-ups? what do you think women can improve to tech projects?

G. K.: In the startup world, in America anyway, there is little gender bias.

From a venture capitalist’s perspective, it’s so hard to find a successful company that we’re surely not going to limit our chances by being sexist.

Women should just do it—as Nike says.

Todas: About Mac: what´s lacking to the philosophy of Apple at the present time? Do you think that free software theory is a real enemy for the future of Apple?

G. K.: I don’t know if anything is lacking with the philosophy of Apple these days. I do hope, however, that the company is working on a computer that will make us all forget Macintosh.

This is a company’s greatest challenge: To have the courage and vision to leapfrog its own successes. If it doesn’t, a startup will.

I don’t see free software as a near-term enemy. Microsoft should be more concerned about that.
